Wista Darlene (b. July 4, 1947) extended her friendship to me in grade school and it lasted for decades. She loved to laugh and have a good time. This included playing pranks - our husbands were often the victims. A patriotic person, she loved being a 4th of July baby. Darlene passed away in July of 2010. She will be missed.

Wista became my best friend in junior high. Always loved to have a good time. She was a sensitive soul who loved to write songs and poetry. I always told her she should publish her work. It didn't matter how far away we were or if we didn't talk for awhile, we always remained close. Even when she became ill, she still had an optimistic outlook. She passed away on June 28, 2010. The loves of her life were her (3) daughters and her grandchildren. She was the best.  I still miss her.

Wista and I met when we were in the 5th grade.  Even though we went to different Elementary Schools  we stayed in touch and when we got to Jr. High we became great friends.  She was a very talented Lady who not only wrote poetry but music and lyrics.  Some of her songs were amazing when you listened to the words and what she was saying.  The thing that she left me with the most was her desire to keep or at least stay in touch with all her "Old Friends".  She, like me, believe that old friends are your best friends.  Even in her last days she had me looking for old friends for her to talk to one more time.  I truly miss her.
