After graduating from high school in 1967, I went to Miami-Dade Junior College for 5 years. I dropped in and out and changed my course of study a few times, wildlife biology to radio and TV to theatre.
I finally graduated in August 1972, with an AS in Pre-Bachelor of Science and an AA in Radio and Television Broadcast Technology. I transferred to Florida State as a Theatre Major. After a year at FSU, I transferred to Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton. After a year at FAU I moved back to Hialeah and went to work at the Greater Miami Opera. After a year at the GMO, I went back to FAU to try and finish college. I gave up on college and moved to NYC in July of 1976.
While at FAU I had worked at the Boca Raton Hotel and Club as a night auditor. I continued to work as a night auditor in NYC, which worked out well, as it left my days and evenings free for auditions and classes. I did one Off-Off-Broadway play, one TV commercial and had a lot of success as a print model (magazine and newspaper ads).
I got married in 1985 and moved to Nashville, Tennessee. I did a lot of regional and a few national commercials and continued with print work. In 1989 I moved to Chattanooga with my wife, CJ Breland, joining me later. After 13 months we moved to Franklin Tennessee, just south of Nashville, where our son, David, was born in 1990.
In July of 1992 we moved to DeLand, Florida. I continued with commercials and print work, mostly in Orlando and Tampa. CJ and I did a lot of community theatre that we really enjoyed.
In July of 1997 we moved to Athens, Ohio, so CJ could get her MA in Theatre at Ohio University.
In July of 1998 we moved back to Nashville. We didn't like it this time. We had lived in two small college towns for six years and Nashville had gotten too big for us.
In July of 2000 we moved to Asheville, North Carolina. We like it here; I think we are done moving.
