Jennifer Elaine Myers Christy died peacefully at home in High Shoals, NC on August 1, 2018.

She was the first of four children born on September 16, 1970 in Hickory, NC, to David and Elaine Myers. She attended Hickory City Schools and graduated from Hickory High in 1988. She was also a graduate of UNC Charlotte and held a Masters Degree in School Counseling from Appalachian State University. She was a National Board Certified Teacher since 2007.

While at UNCC, she met her future husband, Sheldon Christy. They celebrated their 24th wedding anniversary on July 30.

She was a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church where she most recently served as a greeter, confirmation leader and was elected to serve on the Church Council. Jennifer's life was defined by her faith, family and friends. She loved children and dedicated her life to helping them learn. She touched many young lives in her 26 years in education as a teacher and school counselor. Her last employment was at Carr Elementary School, Dallas, NC. Of all the things she did, nothing compared to being Mom to Sam and Susan. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Jesse and Martha Aiken and Buddy and Denny Myers.

She is survived by her husband, Sheldon Christy; son, Sam Christy; daughter, Susan Christy, all of the home; parents, David and Elaine Myers, Hickory; brother, Jonathan (Alyssa) Myers and their children, Cameron and Steven, Hickory; sister, Elizabeth Myers Jerry Bolkcom), Ormond Beach, FL; brother, Benjamin Myers, Hickory. Also four aunts, Carolyn Landress, Jacksonville, FL; Nelle Jacobson, Anacortes, WA; Linda Aiken, Vero Beach, FL; Mary (Richard) Arthur, Quorn, UK and two uncles, Jim Myers, Lexington, NC and Douglas Myers, Thailand; and Mother-in-law, Pansy Christy, Greensboro. She is also survived by many other extended family members, in-laws and a host of friends.

Jennifer was overwhelmed and grateful for the many prayers and kindnesses extended to her by friends, church members, neighbors and the health community during her recent illness with metastatic breast cancer.
