Obituary

Mark Glen Pope, 49, of Hickory passed away Friday, December 21, 2018 at his residence. 

Born October 23, 1969 in Catawba County, Mark was the son of Janice Melissa Pope of the home. 

Mark was a graduate of Hickory High School and earned his Associates Degree from Catawba Valley Community College in Business Services. He worked at the 1859 Restaurant, Pope Heating and Air, and Piedmont Vending. Mark was proud to be a graduate of the Neighborhood College program sponsored by the City of Hickory.

Mark had a personality bigger than life. He was a great listener and a loyal friend to all. He loved traveling, camping, hiking, and watching Duke basketball. He was devoted to his mother and very close to his family and many friends, all of whom will miss him deeply. 

In addition to his mother, survivors include three aunts, Glenda Towery and husband Tommy of Hickory, Judy Herring of Hickory, and Carolyn Young and husband Myles of Charlotte; and his cousins, Andrea Towery, Amy Towery Mosteller, Jason Herring, Paul Herring, Heather Trester, Jenny Balesky, and John Pope.
