Judith Ann (Reeb) Memmelaar, 84, of Caldwell, Idaho, passed away on April 11,2025, surrounded by her family. Judy was born March 7 in Northbrook, Illinois, to Carl Andrew Reeb and Anne Agnes (Berger) Reeb. Judy graduated from Highland Park Highschool in 1959, then went on to college at Southern Illinois University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education.
Judy was married to William Francis Arvin in 1962. They welcomed Jennifer Anne in 1964 in Carbondale, Illinois. After Will's sudden death in 1966, Judy relocated to Idaho and began teaching in Caldwell School District. Judy met Herman Memmelaar and they married in 1967. In 1969, Judy and Herman welcomed Michael John.
Judy taught sixth grade at Woodrow Wilson Elementary, and English as a second language at Syringa Middle School for 32 years before retiring in 1999. Outside of her job, Judy loved animals of all kinds. She and her family raised Little Freezeout Quarter Horses, both showing and training with each of her children. She shared her love of animals with both of her children, and they spent many hours together hauling to horse shows.
Judy was a grandmother to four, Katelin Anne Swanson married to Eduardo Sanchez Diaz, Madelyn Kimberly (Memmelaar) Oshiro married to Tanner Oshiro, Erin Elizabeth Swanson, and Gaard Michael Memmelaar. She spent lots of time teaching each of her grandchildren to love animals, especially goats, chickens, and horses. She took them on trail rides, hikes through the Owyhee dessert, and helped each of them learn to read and tie their shoes. Judy shared her love of rocks, painting, and other crafts with each of her grandchildren.
Surviving to honor and cherish Judy's memory are her second husband, Herman; her brother, Michael and his wife Joy; her children, Jennifer married to Geoffrey and Michael married to Heather; her grandchildren, Katelin, Madelyn, Erin, and Gaard; and her great-grandchild, Kalena Oshiro.
