Gene ALTMAN, M. D.

I did not know David had died. Dave was a good friend in high school, through college and into the 70's when he co-founded FRIDAY Architects in Philadelphia. He always had a wry sense of humor. I remember him, buried in work sometime in the 60's, saying, "I don't think adulthood is all it's cracked up to be." I'm so sorry we lost touch. In the 80's I wrote him a brief letter, jokingly asking if he was still alive. He sent me his book, American Diner, with the note: "I live."

David was thoughtful, kind-hearted, determined, and talented – a true artist whose creativity exploded after he studied architecture. He was a renowned architect and teacher, whose body of artistic work included painting, photography, videos, scupture and installation: https://www.inliquid.org/artist/slovic-david
