Leading The Good Life in two locations (Philadelphia and coastal Alabama) seems to suit us just fine. Most of the time in Philadelphia; winter in Alabama. Despite extensive travel, I didn't get to Paris until June 2015. Paris was exactly what everyone said it is. No other city like it. I wrote a lengthy journal if anyone wants to read it -- contact me via email:

After HPHS:
Lawrence Univ. = B.A. English Lit., 1963.
Northwestern Univ. = MBA Mktg. & Finance, 1978.
1963-65 = Nat'l. College of Educ. (Evanston), Admissions Counselor.
1966-83 = Corporate communications and marketing career in Chicago at Illinois Bell Tele., Nat'l. Safety Council, Nat'l. Assoc. of Realtors, Chicago Title & Trust Co.
1983 = relocated to Philadelphia as freelance Business Writer (for banks, law firms and accounting and consulting firms) until retirement in 2007.
Currently: I write travelogues and poetry. I've self-published 5 volumes of my poems, which were written in the last 30 years.
My husband is Paul Neuwirth, CPA, retired partner of Grant Thornton, LLP. We have dual citizenship: One is our city townhome in Philadelphia; the other is our second home in a golf course community in Gulf Shores, Alabama (for the winter months). Paul's 3 sons have produced seven grandsons, the oldest of whom (Oren) is studying in Israel (2019-2020). We've attended five grandson Bar Mitvahs so far. Last of seven will be 2023. Paul and I plan to "Age in Place" in Philly as long as we can.
I am now a WHITE-HAIRED lady, having decided at age 70 to see what color my hair really is.
Update 2019: I still weigh the same and go to the gym 3X a week for an hour. Hoping to visit the Norwegian fjords in 2020. I remain in irregular contact with HPHS friends Jean Altman Dunn, Cynthia Jacob and Malika (Julie Thomas).

School Story:

One summer shortly after graduating from HPHS, I had one date with Eugene Altman, who arrived on a motorcycle (to my parents' horror), which I happily boarded. Off we went, from Deerfield to HP. Later that same evening, Gene took me back home -- in his father's Jaguar, much to my parents' relief.
Apparently, I became an Honorary Member of the Cross-Country Team during lunch hour at the HPHS cafeteria. I happily traded mock insults with "the boys," including John Farr, Jimmy Phelan, Hal March, and Mike Andersen.
Not to be exclusive, I also recall nooontime sparring gently with Tom Pulver (my then-boyfriend) and Sam Zell, whom I thought was destined to become a rabbi.
My usual lunchtime companions were Cynthia Jacob, Jean Altman, Julie Thomas, and Pat Rau. At a nearby table, were other favorites: Karen Cheli, Connie Linari, Pam Lenzi, Mary Rose and others from the neighborhood.
As "Deerfield Girls," we were not eagerly embraced by the Highland Park girls, but the Highwood Girls were our buddies. The tri-level social strata were clearly delineated at the time -- teen psychology. Today, we're all equal -- at least, in my Advance Adult view.

Happy Day After, Sandy. I remember your beautiful face and sandy-colored hair from Homeroom at HPHS. Only about 65 years ago! Cheers to all of us turning 80 this year.

I want to be the first classmate to wish you "Happy 79th Birthday" in advance, Sally. In your latest posted photo, you look young and carefree and in charge of your life. How many people can say to you: "I remember when you were one of my most favorite classmates in Kindergarten at Deerfield Grammar School"? LOL, Delaney.

Happy Day, Carolyn. Remember dissecting a frog as lab partners in Mr. McMullen's Biology class? (My long-term memory is good, but not short-term so much.) Can you believe that was more than 60 years ago? And here we are...

Steve, what you wrote about Dave Conley is the BEST. I barely knew him, but felt I did after reading the notation and your response. Thanks for giving me a glimpse of him as a person. I was especially intrigued by the not-yet-to-be Tri-State: We really do go back a long, long time, don't we? In touch, Rosalie Ward Delaney Neuwirth in Philly.

I'm late in wishing you a satisfying 77th birthday, Mike -- only because I was off the internet for a whole week in Grand Cayman Island. Will that excuse do? Q.: Did you compose the beautiful tribute to Dave Conley? I did not know him well, but your (?) descriptive notations made me feel as if I did. The light touch; the right touch. I also liked reading what Steve Seiler wrote -- again letting the person he was shine through with good humor and happy memories. Same with Allan March's entry. Our classmates are sensitive souls. Nice to know that.

Re. October 26: Happy NON-LANDMARK Birthday, Gene. You probably don't view this website, as you are still listed as living in Hawaii when, in fact, you and Toni reside in Treasure Island, FL. This notation will alert other classmates... Good Cheer from R.W.Delaney.

Gene stole my line:  Jeff was indeed a brilliant classmate. He was also thoughtful and sensitive. I am glad to know that his brilliance took him so far professionally and that he retained the special qualities that were so evident to us who knew him at age 17. I send condolences to his family on the loss. Truly, Rosalie Ward Delaney Neuwirth.

Patsy -- as we called her at HPHS -- was always smiling. Her good nature and good humor sparkled, even under durress. My recall is lots of laughter wherever Pat was. We've lost an exemplary classmate who looked at the bright side until the end. Smiling back at Pat, Delaney (Rosalie Ward Delaney Neuwirth).
