Jo Lynne (Jody) Murray (Wagar)

JoLynne "Jody" Murray Wagar, 83, of St. Johns, Mich., died peacefully on July 15, 2024 at Hazel Findlay Country Manor. Jody was born on May 8, 1941, in St. Johns and was raised by Richard and Anne Murray. She had a love for travel, a trait cultivated from her childhood as an Army brat. She lived in many places as a child, including time spent in Texas, Kansas, Germany, Chicago and Georgia. She married Richard Wagar in 1962 and the couple settled in St. Johns.

She was an unwavering pillar of support and generosity, and lived a life that was marked by her thoughtful nature and warm heart. Gifting people with thoughtful gifts was her love language and her greatest joy came from caring for those around her. She loved to travel, drive around on country roads and really enjoyed her visits to Virginia to connect with her family. She also took immense joy in her trips to Myrtle Beach with her grandchildren. An avid reader, Jody had a deep affection for history and civil war books, and enjoyed visiting the Civil War battlegrounds. Her compassionate nature led her to be a haven for rescued and unwanted animals. She was a skilled seamstress, she sewed her children's clothes, and loved to crochet.

Above all, Jody's greatest hobby was her children and grandchildren. Her joy was seeing her loved ones happy. She was supportive and encouraging, and the bonus grandma to many, including the entire 2000 graduating class. Her love, support, and kindness have touched countless lives.

She will be missed by many, especially by her children, Tammy (Terry) Baker, Robert (Fran) Wagar and Sammi Wagar; grandchildren, Frank (West) Baker, Bob (Terri) Wagar, Jackie (Matt) Drake, Rick (Kat) Wagar, Courtney (Bryan) Sturgis, Erika (Justin) Sturgis, Shannon (fiance Neil) Sturgis, Leah Azure and Jessica (Ron) Buxton; great grandchildren, Kellen, Kendall, Ellie, Peyton, Hunter, Devin, Emily, Justin, Liam and Lillian; brother Richard Murray; sister, Terri Murray, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Wagar in 2007; her parents and her brother, Bill Murray.
