Kathy and I became fast friends Junior year at HPHS when we were in the same English class and spent a lot of time together in the Music Department.  I remember accompanying her on the piano while she sang in that beautiful soprano voice during Focus on the Arts in 1972 and we remained pals through graduation; I still have the lyrics in her handwriting for John Denver's "Follow Me", which I learned to play on guitar...  Although we lost touch with one another after high school, I never forgot about her beautiful soul and was so distressed to learn that she had passed way too early.

Kathy and I were best friends throughout grade and middle school.  She was my best friend indeed.  We did almost everything together and were inseparable during the summers when we swam at HPCountry Club or the Twin pools.  We spent many sleepovers together.  Kathy was always thin, beautiful and full of grace.  As a twosome, she always had the cutest guy interested in her and I usually got the next in line.  Kathy, her two brothers and Melissa as well as her mom and dad made up my extended family. Susan Tyrell and Nancy made up the 4 "muskateers" of girl power.  Although, Kathy and I went our different directions in HS, we stayed in touch until approx. 6 months before she died from breast cancer.  My last fond memory was having breakfast with Kathy and her daughter Sara at IHOP in Libertyville with my 3 children. She was as beautiful and warm as ever.  She adored her second husband and being a mother. Little did I know that it would be awhile before I'd see her again. Her picture with Sara graces the mantle over the fireplace in my bedroom.

I have to laugh at myself. I met Kathryn at the end of 8th grade when they had all the Jr. High School Choir's sing together at the high school. She was the only one I rememember meeting.  She was beautiful and her voice was unbelievable. I tried to be charming cause I totally had a crush.  High school was gonna be some kind of wonderful if this is who was going.  I never had the sense or confidence to follow up.  She was always a friend of a friend, but we never spent much time together, and I'm still sorry about that.  Another loss.

Reading this list has been stunning.  I had no idea we had lost so many wonderful people.

I have wonderful memories of Kathy in 7th and 8th grade. She was always funny, musically skilled and a good student (all traits I envied in her). She was light years ahead of me socially and emotionally (as most girls are in that stage of growth), but was so easy to connect with. She was well liked by her classmates and demonstrated a natural capacity for leadership.

We spoke a couple of times in HS, given our orbits had diverged, but she was always Kathy. Her musical talents continued to mature and watching her and other Jr High friends on stage always brought me happiness during their performances.

I can only imagine what a wonderful mother she was. My heart goes out to her family. I know she is greatly missed.

Me heart is so sad to hear about Kathryn Ferrari. She was an absolutely beautiful girl inisde and out. Kathy was smart, talented and loving. We were the closest of friends in high school and had much in common. I believe we met in chorus and became fast friends. We were in Guys and Dolls together in 1973, Senior year--she played Sarah to my Adelaide. What an unbelievable memory!! I have the cover of the Highland Park Magazine of her and I hung in my office. I believe she was in our musical group "The Five of Us" with Patti Hoffman,Evie Lettvin and Paula Lipson. We had many wonderful times performing in and around Highland Park. Kathryn and I kept in touch after high school for a little while and met to go dancing and catch up many times. I can stil hear the Barry Gibb songs playing while we did the hustle. Funny how you remember certain details. Her family, the Ferraris were wonderful and loving also, always very inviting. My heart goes out to her family. May you rest in peace Kathryn.
