In loving memory of Elaine Hugel Shackleton.

Elaine Hugel Shackleton, 83, beloved mother to Michael, Dora Lee, John & Laura, passed away  August 23, 2024 surrounded by her loving children.

Elaine was born into a loving family on April 19th, 1941 to Elsa & Joseph Hugel of Hillsdale, New Jersey.  

Our amazing Mom had innumerable talents and a heart full of love and her dedication to her family was unwavering. In 1960 Elaine met and married George Shackleton and raised a wonderful family.  She leaves a legacy of incredible love that will be forever cherished.

Elaine found solace and joy in time spent gardening and doing yard work which her Dad taught her on 332 Liberty Avenue.   She loved to sew, fish, sing & dance, write and created lovely floral arrangements & terrariums which she gave as presents to friends and loved ones everywhere.  Wherever she went, our Mom enjoyed helping others with her loving empathy and kindness.

In this time of grief, we celebrate our love for our dear Mother and her amazingly well-lived life with memories that will forever fill our hearts.  Elaine will be deeply missed and never forgotten and her beautiful soul continues to live on through the love and memories of all who knew her. 

Family members here to honor and treasure her memory are sons Michael (Sally), John, and daughters Dora Lee and Laura Dubish (Rick), along with grandchildren Nicole, Richie, Alexandra, Liam and  Danny.   Also, her sisters Elsa  and Joanna  and many cousins nieces & nephews.

In accordance with Elaine’s wishes, a Christian memorial service was held outdoors for family on Saturday August 31, 2024.
