U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Henry K. Kahalewai, Jr., of Hilo, Hawaii, died Dec. 15, 2006, of wounds suffered Nov. 21 in Baghdad, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Stryker vehicle. A staff sergeant with the 1st Squadron, 14th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, U.S. Army.

Survived by wife, Debbie; son, Aaron; daughters, Azhalane Williams and Alishia Kahalewai; a grandson; father, Henry Sr.; brothers, Richard and Shawn; sisters, Rochelle Sabate and Roxanne Cary.
