Howard Allan Haseldalan


Our loving husband, father, and grandpa returned home to his Father in Heaven on October 4, 2013 after a valiant battle with bone cancer. Howard Allan Haseldalen, Jr., 62, was living in Gilbert, Arizona at the time of his death. He was born December 12, 1950 in Great Falls Montana to Howard Allan, Sr. and Mary Louise Hasledalen. He moved to Salt Lake City, Utah and attended the University of Utah playing the trumpet in the marching band. While there, he met the love of his life, Peggy Sulpizio. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on March 17, 1973. A year later, they welcomed their first daughter, Heidi into their family and twin daughters Heather and Hollie arrived a few years later. He devoted his life to his wife and daughters. Later in life he would say that his greatest accomplishment were his daughters who gave him 8 wonderful grandsons and one beautiful granddaughter. Howard enjoyed a 36 year career as a journeyman lineman for Utah Power and Light, providing service to the citizens of the Salt Lake Valley, weathering lightening and snowstorms to keep their power up and running. He then moved with his wife to Arizona, working for SRP for five years, continuing his love of service to people in the community, spending a total of 40 years as a journeyman lineman. Howard was an active member of the LDS church, serving in various callings including as a temple worker at the Mesa Temple and as a ward missionary. He loved fishing, baseball, movies, and flying kites"”flying his red baron kite with his grandkids on every windy day he could. He is survived by his wife, Peggy, his daughters Heidi (Blair) Postma, of Mesa; Heather (Martin) Taylor of San Tan Valley; and Hollie (Ryan) Peters of Nephi, Utah; his sister Billie Pettijohn of Oklahoma City; and 9 wonderful grandchildren: Kayden, Colten and Conner Postma; Faith and Matthew Taylor; Zackery, Tayler, Karter, and Cole Peters. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Highland Park Ward Chapel, 1010 South Recker Road, Gilbert. A viewing will be held the prior night on Wednesday, October 9, 2013from 6:00-8:00 at the Falconer Funeral Home, 251 W. Juniper Ave., Gilbert. Friends may also call one hour prior to funeral services. Interment will be at the Mesa City Cemetery.
