Marian Sutherland Obituary

Marian Recksiek Sutherland 1950 ~ 2005 Marian Recksiek Sutherland, 54 of Arnegard, ND passed away Friday, February 18, 2005 at St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck, ND. She was born November 22, 1950 in Salt Lake City, UT, the daughter of Werner and Helga Gaertner Recksiek. She grew up and attended schools in Salt Lake City, graduating from Olympus High School in 1969. She attended Brigham Young University, and later the Christian-Albrecht University, Kiel, Germany. Marian was married to Richard Sutherland on February 12, 1972 in Salt Lake City. Two children were born to this union: Lisette and Erika. The family moved to Colorado Springs where Marian began her landscaping business. She later divorced, retired and moved to Arnegard where she had made her home since. Marian enjoyed painting pictures, writing, crafts and horticulture. She was always known as "Mother" to all and held the title as "Mother Marian" or "Ma". Marian always put everyone's needs before her own. Marian is survived by her mother, Helga Recksiek of Salt Lake City, UT; two daughters: Lisette Sutherland of Los Angeles, CA and Erika Sutherland of Lemoore, CA; two sisters: Christine (Earl) Prisk of Salt Lake City, UT and Anita (Andy) Mjolhus of Killdeer, ND; nieces and nephews: Emily, Greg, Geoff, Jennifer, Michael and Stephanie and a special great-nephew, Colby "Colbster". She was preceded in death by her father. Memorial Service will be held Sat., Feb. 26, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 Highland Dr.
