UNSUNG HEROES
AND CALL FROM THE CHAIR FOR
“ONE LAST TIME”

FOLLOWING is an ABBRREVIATED ORDER of EVENTS along with recordings of UNSUNG HEROES and LAST WORDS.

WELCOME (Golfers, Special Guests, Widows) – John

The WELCOME acknowledged the golfers, many of whom were absent for health and travel, but nevertheless anxious to hear how they fared.  Present today are: James Ware (original military member); Mike Isokane (Rodney’s partner and multiple jackpot/greenie winner); Eric Wong (Nate’s younger brother and prominent Iolani wanabe while being one of the most regular attending players lately); Marshall Misobe (who attended our 50th birthday, Vegas reunion 32 years ago.  In just his first year back with us, he’s become a multiple jackpot/greenie winner.  Doug would be proud of him); and our regular SF out-of-towners, Carol and Ron Hing.  They hosted another delicious BBQ at their Allure Condo on Kalakaua Ave a few weeks ago.  Among non-golfing out-of-towners are Rolin and Vicky Soong, who have been with Ronald Chock.  We’re so happy to see you each year.  I almost forgot to welcome back, two-time last-minute scratch, Joe Davis.  The State needs your convention center management expertise to get the Aloha Stadium completed.  And finally a hearty welcome home to Sam and Linda Mayeda, who are back home on Mariner’s Ridge.  They hosted two gatherings at their home while they still resided in Irvine.  So good to have them home again.

And a special welcome to Faith Shibuya and Marian Soo for their years of attendance.  And this year, welcome to Pui so that many can express their condolences for Dick’s recent passing.

Post Event note: a belated welcome to first-time guest of Dennis, Leanne Char Carpenter.  See you again soon!

LAST WORDS from the Chair  “I thank Kenneal for giving me these last words.  We had a “shoot the bull”, therapeutic session two weeks ago hosted by Dr Sam (the docs Sam and Nate had one earlier with fellow doc Kenneal) during which Kenneal mentioned that Richard Ho’s (while he was in dialysis protocol) last words to him were:                                   “LIFE HAS ITS WAY.  . . BE HAPPY”               to which, Kenneal instructed us that:                                                                “LIFE HAS ITS WAY . . . EMBRACE IT”

“We do not have many more times like we’re having today, so EMRACE IT.  EMBRACE the present moment as you go forward. Be safe, take care of your health, pray for each other and the families of our late classmates until we reconvene on June 1st 2027 for “ONE LAST TIME” to honor widows and wives who have passed and celebrate our 65th reunion.
