James Earl Holston, born June 11, 1952 to Frances Evelyn Holston and Clyde Mitchell; James lived with his maternal grandparents Earl & Annie Mae Holston.  Frances was united in marriage to Oliver Nash, Sr. December 27, 1952 and James was raised as their son with their other eleven children.  James parents, grandparents, three sisters, one niece and one nephew preceded him in death.  Mr. Holston passed on Friday, May 10 at a local hospital.

James was educated in the Guernsey and Hope Public Schools; he was a member of the first integrated graduating class of Hope High School in 1970.  After graduating high school he joined the US Army in 1972 where he traveled throughout the world before returning to Hope, Arkansas in 2003.

James united in marriage on November 3, 1974 to Jessie Lewis.  To this union four children were born two boys and two girls; James Earl Jr.; Toby, Allen, and Crystal.

James leaves to cherish his memory his children; James Jr., Toby, Crystal Holston of Fayetteville, North Carolina, and Allen Holston of Wisconsin. His siblings Allie Almon, St. Louis, MO; Isabell Nash, Raytown, MO; Sarah (James) Muldrow; Charles (Rhonda) Nash; Shelia Nash, all of Hope, AR; Oliver (Regina) Nash, Killeen, TX, Annie (George) Parker, Yukon, OK; Ronald (Melissa) Nash, Hutto, TX; Carolyn Mitchell Porter; Johnny Mitchell; Sonny Mitchell, Donna Lewis of Hope, AR; Alma Mitchell Langston, Arlington, TX; Shirleen Jackson, East Camden, AR; Charlene Manning, Saratoga, AR; and David Mitchell, Longview, TX; two brother-in-law Hayward Finks, Sr. and Harold Gardner of Little Rock, AR.  Two uncles Herman D. (Marelene) Johnson, Washington, AR; Ivory Greathouse, Nashville, AR and one aunt Tennie L. Carr, Duncan, OK and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and relatives.  Special family friends Kimberly Carson, Deris Nash Johnson, Michael Smith, Annie Maxwell, Delmetric Braggs and Norma Chambers.

Visitation will be 12-5pm, wake 6-7pm Friday at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 3pm Saturday, May 18 at Hicks Memorial Chapel for Funerals. Arrangements entrusted to Hicks Funeral Home, Inc.
