Willie Lee Pickens

WILLIE LEE PICKENS

On Monday, September 12, 2011, God in His awesomeness called to eternal life the soul of Willie L. Pickens of Rogers, Arkansas.  He sent  a host of angels to accompany him home.

Willie was born on February 11, 1952 in Hope, Arkansas to Margie Pickens and the late Willie Pickens, Sr.

Willie accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age.  He was a graduate of Yerger High School in 1970, served in the Marine Corps and was a member of the Masonic Lodge.  He was preceded in death by his father, Willie Pickens, Sr.; one sister, Betty Marie Pickens; one son, Willie Charles Pickens; and his grandparents, Willie Mae and Isaiah Willis.

Willie leaves behind to cherish his memories, his wife Lillie Rose, his four sons, Steven (Marcy) Hill of Kaiserslauten, Germany: Stacy Pickens of Hope, Arkansas; Willis Pickens-Ahmiyn of Atlanta, Georgia; and Shaun Reed of Fayetteville, Arkansas.  Four daughters, Rosalind Pickens-Johnson (Arthur) of Conyers, Georgia; Mary Margaret Pickens of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Felicia Honore of Texarkana, Texas; Natasha Smith of Atlanta, Georgia.  His mother Margie Pickens of Hope, Arkansas;  three brothers, Charles (Gloria) Pickens of Little Rock, Arkansas; Billy (Cora) Pickens of Hope, Arkansas; and Ronald (Mary) Ragland of Texarkana, Texas;  three sisters, Frankie Lee Pickens of Chicage, Illinois, Keisha Primer (Carlos) of Hope, Arkansas, and Bertha Ragland of California; ten grandchildren and one great grand child; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Services were held Saturday, September 17, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. at Rising Star Baptist Church, with Rev. Lonnie Williams officiating.  Internment was at Scott's Memorial Gardens at Perrytown, Ar.  Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Hicks Funeral Home, Inc.

Active Pallbearers were:  Larry Muldrew, Alvin Flenory, Tommy Bostic, Rev. Jessie Henry, Jimmy Dean Martin, Joshua Lowe, and Aurthur Johnson.

Honorary Pallbearers were:  Billy Pickens, Charles Pickens, Sr., Stacy Pickens, Steven Hill, Willis Pickens Ahmiyn, Charles Pickens, Jr.  and Eric Pickens.
