Bob Burleigh

Robert Edward Burleigh 1946-2017 Bob Burleigh was born on October 11, 1946. He was the second of four sons of Thomas and Freida Burleigh of Horsham. In high school, Bob was one of our first vo-tech graduates. We knew him to be a big fan of cars, motorcycles, and drag racing. In August of 1966, after graduation, Bob enlisted in the Army and served until 1969. After one tour in Vietnam, he extended for an additional year. His second tour put him in Dong Ha at the DMZ. He was a welder attached to a Marine battalion. It wasn’t easy for him going that far incountry. When Bob returned from the service, he joined the family painting business, which his father had founded in the 1920’s. After his dad’s death in 1972, Bob and his older brother, Tom ran the business together. Bob was married to Frances (Frankie) Harrington, who hailed from the Poconos. When he replied to our 1986 reunion questionnaire, he reported that he was employed as an industrial painter. He shared that he and the family enjoyed skiing and sailing. In 2008, Bob retired from the family business and he and Frankie moved to Westcliffe, Colorado. The city is about an hour away from Pueblo, in the beautiful mountains. Frankie had been in poor health for some time and Bob took care of her for nearly 30 years. Bob died of cancer on March 21, 2017, and Frankie died in 2018. They are buried side by side beneath a beautiful headstone in Whitemarsh Cemetery. He was survived by brothers Tom and Dennis and a stepdaughter from his first marriage
