Submitted by Julie Carson: Shannon and I both worked at Fame City in the Water Park back in our junior year..... He was such a blast!! He could make you smile even when you didn't want to!!! I believe he died of liver disease, but I am not sure!! If anyone else has heard, please update this~ I just remember seeing his highschool yearbook picture in the paper and seeing his name! I do miss him!
I just couldn't believe it when I read that Shannon had passed back in 2003. I'm very saddened to see that as the last I saw him was our 10 year reunion. I was trying to track him down before the reunion and didn't even see this until today. He was a good friend who was always there for you. He made me a box of cookies that he had decorated for our Powder Puff game and I thought that was the sweetest thing anyone can do. Part of that's in my memory book along with a few pictures of him. He will always be in my fondness of memories of high school...
SHANNON MICHAEL FARRIS Born on May 7th, 1970 and Died July 4th, 2003. Surrounded by his parents Kenneth and Violet Farris, Shannon succumbed Friday afternoon to liver failure. He had valiantly fought this battle for the past year and has now gone to his Lord. Shannon was an exceptionally talented floral designer. He could convert weeds and wildflowers found in the ditches in his Rice Military neighborhood into spectacular arrangements just as easily as he could with flowers from the wholesalers. He was associated with a number of floral shops in Houston and had a devoted following of clients. He will be sorely missed by his beloved dog, Jack Russell Farris and his dearest friends, Bob, Dirk, Barbara, William, Dianne, Maribel, & Kendall. Shannon was born in Amarillo, Texas and attended school at Alief-Hastings in Houston and Texas Tech in Lubbock. Shannon is survived by his brother, Channing and sister-in-law, Bobbi and their children, Joshua and Makiah. Shannon is also survived by his grandmother, Vea Fillingim, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
