Joyce Lott

Joyce Faye Lott of Houston was born May 1, 1936 and went home to be with her Lord and Savior March 25, 2014. Born in Cullman, Alabama, the second of five children.

Joyce was preceded in death by her mother, Marilla Marcel League, father William Tommy League, brother Tommy League, Jr. as well as by several uncles, aunts and numerous cousins.

Survived by her loving husband, Thomas Lott of 59 years, daughter Kathy Lott Phillips and husband Rick, son Alan George Lott and wife Lisa, grandchildren Stephen Thorp and wife Kristin, Reid Phillips and wife Falon, grandsons James and Christopher Lott, two great granddaughters Leah Marie Thorp and Paisyn Averi Phillips, sister Dot Cunningham and husband Walter, brothers Clint Edward League and wife Trishia, Bobby Edd League and wife Rosie, Karen Vannerson and numerous other nieces and nephews Joyce was an honored scholastic educator at Broadway Baptist School for 16 years, who excelled as a life teacher. She proudly carried the banner of faith, integrity, loyalty, and determination. She was bold, yet tender, and always opinionated on social and political issues, but never wavered on her basis religious principles of believing God's word was true.

Friends are cordially invited to the visitation Sunday, March 30, 2014, 2 p.m. - 5 p.m., in the Main Chapel of Blackwell & Vazquez Woodforest Funeral Home, 750 Uvalde Rd, Houston, TX 77015, (713) 453-1900.

Funeral service will be on Monday, March 31, 2014, at 11 a.m. , also in the Main Chapel of the funeral home; followed by interment at Grand View Cemetery, 8501 Spencer, Pasadena 77505.
