"Mom's Miracle Team" wishes to share that TLAZALTEOTLZIN ("EVE") NELSON, born May 9, 1934, went quietly over the rainbow on June 30, 2002, while her children surrounded her with love and song. For four and a half months, she defied medical odds after miraculously surviving a stroke and emergency craniotomy, when an advanced malignant brain tumor was discovered. She was born in Monterrey, Mexico to Concepcion Ruiz-Castillon, of Guadalajara, Mexico and Frank Gibler of Houston, Texas. She attended high school in Coral Gables, Florida and Houston. She earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University Without Walls in Houston and a master's degree in intercultural relations from the School for International Training in Brattleboro, Vermont. Tlazal had several professions, including: newspaper columnist (horoscope and social news columns) Deer Park, Texas; owner and president of Success Seminars, Houston, Texas, an inspirational program to encourage positive thinking and growth, owner and president of The Institute of Parapsychology, Houston, where she did personal counseling and psychotherapy. Also, she was an elementary school and high school teacher and real estate agent in Houston, and case worker for the Mental Health & Mental Retardation Authority of Harris County. Among her many passions was writing, both fiction and non-fiction. Her most recent professional position was free-lance writer, Austin, Texas. She was a member of American Mensa Ltd, and recently was honored by her peers in that organization by being bestowed a brick in the "Walk of the Minds." She had six brothers and six sisters. She was predeceased by brother Cuauhtemoc Gibler and Frank Gibler, III, and sister Deborah McCartney. She is survived by her brothers Gordon, Blas, Edward and Michael Gibler and her sisters Dorothy Wolin, Marta Kindschuh, Consuelo Jensen, Xochitl Doying, and Mary Jane Ross. She devoted her life to her seven children, five of whom she had with former husband Maj. Rafael Ramos (USAF "Ret.") and two of whom she had with former husband Rev. James A. Nelson, both still living. Her Miracle Team was created by her children, including her fourth-born child, Ricardo Ramos, who was the first to go over the rainbow on October 13, 1992. Her remaining six children, plus one other she claimed as her child, formed the well-generated Miracle Team: Rafael Ramos of League City, Texas, Raul, Rolan and Eva Conchita Ramos, Esq, and Danny Nelson of Austin, Texas, Lisa Nelson of Chugiak, Alaska and David Beauchemin of Houston, Texas. Also, she was the good friend and mother-in-law of Dr. Sergio Escobar of Austin, Texas, Adam Gibler of Chugiak, Alaska, Michele Hogan of Austin, Texas, and Tara Kolar of League City, Texas. She leaves her love with seven grandchildren: Chance and Devin Ramos of Austin, Texas, Rand and Raquel Ramos of Katy, Texas, Ricardo and Julia Escobar of Austin, Texas, and Fallon Renee Ramos of Waco, Texas. Also, among her Miracle Team members, were many nieces and nephews, including Kitten Milks of Round Rock, Texas, Rebecca Trois of Fredericksburg, Texas and John Wolin of Blanco, Texas. In total, she leaves behind 59 beloved nieces and nephews. In celebration of her life, her memorial service will be a tribute filled with love, prayer, poetry and music on Saturday, July 6, 2002, at 3:00 pm. at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 3125 North Lamar, Austin, Texas, 78705, 512/452-8811.
