Matthew Rena Renaud, 35 of Houston, Texas passed away Friday, May 31, 2013. He was born in Houston, Texas on July 2, 1977 to Xavier David Renaud and Barbara Rocha Perez. Matthew graduated from North Shore High School in 1996 and continued his education at San Jacinto College where he received an associate's degree in fire science.

Matthew loved the Houston Fire Department and loved being a fireman. He was assigned to numerous stations during his career but always called Station 51 his home. He was promoted quickly through the ranks of the fire department, recently landing him near the top of the Sr. Captain Exam List. Matthew was a consummate professional and was highly respected among his peers.

He had a passion for all Houston Sports with the Astros being his first love. Matthew loved his family and friends. He was always there for them. He especially loved spoiling his nephew, Luke. Matthew enjoyed life to its fullest. He loved to travel, attend sporting events and his dog, Hoagie.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Marcos Rocha, Zenaida Rocha, Andres Renaud; uncles, Marcos Rocha, Jr., Nick Rocha, and Gary Renaud. He is survived by his father, Xavier Renaud and wife, Micdalia; mother, Barbara Perez; brother, David Renaud and wife, Courtney; nephew, Luke; and numerous extended family members and friends. 

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at 10:30am at Grace Community Church, 14505 Gulf Freeway Houston, Texas 77034. An escorted procession following service to Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
