I can't help but think of Kay every year on my birthday because it was hers too. Kay and I were born in the same hospital here in Houston only hours apart. I discovered a few years ago taht Dr. Dossey (Kay's dad) actually signed my baby book. Dr. Dossey also saved my father's life years later when he operated on Dad to remove his appendix.

Kay and I weren't particularly close in high school, but I'll never forget her beautiful smile and the way she made every activity she was involved in seem like fun. "Fun" and "happy" are words I will always associate with Kay and what a blessing she brought to the lives of her family, friends, and those lucky enough to spend time around her.

I will always remember Kay's sweet smile and kind heart. I thought of her recently as I waited in the Memorial City Hospital waiting room as my husband was having triple by-pass surgery. My dear friend, Barbara Schroeder, stayed by my side that day and at one point I got up to walk around. There, on the wall of the waiting area, was Dr. Dossey's name. Memories of Kay came over me and I thought about being on a cruise together for Markettes. We had such a great time, but I was so sea sick. Dear Dr. Dossey was on the cruise as well, and he saved the day with patches to put behind my ears! Between Markettes and choir, I saw a lot of Kay - always smiling, always kind, and a friend to everyone. I will always have fond memories of her as well as her family.

Sweet, sweet Kay. Always smiling, laughing, enjoyed every minute of her precious life on earth and touched so many. Best, funniest Kay moment was performing at West Point and her foot got tangled up in my skirt (some weird kickline thing, sorry). We were stuck trying to fix it for what seemed like forever. Audience was pointing at us -- we laughed til we cried, but had to keep performing. Kay was taken from us way too soon. Miss you, honey!
