Yes! Attending Reunion
What elementary school(s)did you attend?

Durkee

What Jr High (s) did you attend?

Fonville

What street(s) did you grow up on?

Canino in Houston until the summer of 1963 when we moved to Tomball.

Do you or your family still live or own your house that you grew up in?

No, we rented.

Do you see or hang out with any class mates? Who?

Carol McCoy (Miller) lives in my subdivision but we don't really hang out.

What would we be surprised to know about you?

That I stole a lipstick from a drugstore when I was 14. I was sweating & my heart was racing when I walked out of the store with it. It scared me so bad (No, I didn't get caught) that I NEVER did anything like that again. In fact, I'm one of the most honest people you'll ever know. (Can't say why I did it...my parents were getting divorced, it was summer, my future step-sister & I were bored...who knows.)
Also, that I had my teeth straightened when I was 31. The company I worked for covered adult orthodonics so I jumped at the chance. And this grandma still wears her retainers EVERY night. (No way am I gonna take the chance of them shifting.)

Where was your favorite HS hangout?

Actually I moved to Tomball my Freshman year (after my parents divorced) & then we moved to Aldine District & I graduated from MacArthur. Harvey & I went to the Airline Drive-In a lot. (Most of the time we actually watched the movie, too. Ha!) I remember sitting in my '68 VW with him & crying over the movie, Love Story. We also loved to go to Surfside. We went back about 10 years ago to check it out & were VERY disappointed.

List your siblings and year.

My two older brothers both went to Sam Houston. Melvin who graduated in 1963 and Dwight who graduated in 1965 (I think those dates are right.)

School Story:

I remember when Connie Redden wore a spaghetti strapped dress for her school picture at Fonville. She took off the little jacket that the school said had to be worn & gave the photographer a look over her shoulder that you wouldn't believe. Sexiest 9th grade picture I EVER saw. LOL! I had that picture somewhere & wish I could find it.

Comments:

I didn't graduate from Sam Houston as we moved my Freshman year but I went to school for almost 10 years with some of the 1969 Sam Houston graduates. I was in DECA at MacArthur & worked at Weiners. I married at 19 & went with my husband (who had just joined the Navy 7 months earlier) to Norfolk, Virginia. He went to Viet Nam 11 months later & I lived with his family until he returned. Thank God he made it back ok & wasn't affected as some Vets were. We settled in Houston & had two sons. I worked at a day care when the boys were small, then sold titanium, then worked at a document service and finally I was secretary to the VP at a construction company. We've lived off I-45 across from The Woodlands Mall since 1979. We love to country dance but don't go as much as we used to. We are owners of a 1967 Chevy II Station Wagon. Thanks to my wonderful husband, my life has been great with not too much drama. (I hate drama in my life...I'm terrible at handling drama.)

My mom, she lives in Alabama, came to visit in November & gave Olivia her Christmas present early. Olivia ran straight to her and gave her a big hug.

I was probably nine in the black & white photo as I got glasses when I was ten. This was taken at Durkee elementary. The other two were taken at Fonville...I think the 7th & 8th grade. (I can't believe I thought those hair styles were attractive.)

Our cute 4 1/2 yr old granddaughter, Olivia Grace. She's got a great sense of humor, not too bratty & melts our hearts with her hugs. I do spoil her but with my time not with things.
