

Robert "Bob" Thelen
1950-2008

Robert (Bob) F. Thelen, 58, loving husband and father, of Austin, Texas, died on Saturday, February 9, 2008. He was born on January 14, 1950 in Burlington, Iowa to Arthur Thelen and Carol Luling Thelen.
Bob received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Bachelors and Masters degree in Electrical Engineering. He worked for 23 years at the University of Texas Center for Electromechanics. Bob was a member of Grace Covenant Church in Austin, and an active member in the Stephen Ministry, and professional organization, IEEE.
He enjoyed reading, history, playing with his grandkids, going to the movies, taking long drives in the country, and discussing theology, philosophy, and science.
Bob is survived by his wife, Laurie; daughters, Jennifer Doyle and husband Ron, Haley Thelen; brothers, Michael Thelen, Rick Thelen and wife Janie, John Thelen, David Thelen and wife Carol; grandchildren, Christopher and Stephen; stepmother, Elizabeth Thelen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Art and Carol Thelen.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at Grace Covenant Church, 9431 Old Jollyville Road, with Pastor Matt Cassidy officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society would be preferred via their website at www.leukemia-lymphoma.org.
