Luther "Skip" Garner (Garner)

 Skip Garner
 1949-2020

Luther Wailon "Skip Garner, II, was born July 3, 1949 at Cheyenne, Wyoming.  He was the son of Luther Wailon Garner (1928-1989), and Gyndolyn M. Medley Garner (1929-2010).
Skip passed away from lung cancer on Au
gust 11, 2020 in Vancouver, Washington.  He was 71.

His memorial was held at the Minnehaha Church of Christ on Saturday, August 22, 2020.
from his memorial service:

"Back in 2018, Skip fell and was suddenly reminded of how fragile life can be.  He wrote the following email to some of his friends:
"Hi, guys, I
just wanted to take a minute to thank you all for being my friends.  I had a close call with this fall and I'm just now realizing just how serious it was.  It seems I had a mild concussion and according to the doctor, it could have been much worse.  I may be a little emotional but this morning while shaving I looked at myself and saw my mortality looking back at me.  Anyway, I just wanted you all to know how much each one of you means to me.  Thank you!!!
Skip
P.S.  I really don't mean to upset anyone but, I am very grateful that I was able to find Christ."

A quote from his granddaughter, Andrea Garner, on Go Fund Me page:
"My grandpa passed on August 11th, 2020 before 11 pm that morning of lung cancer & fluid build up in his lungs, at the age of 71 yrs. old & as this is so new to us, we are still grieving.  He had the biggest heart once you got to know him.  He made friends with almost anyone he'd talked to & love his church family.  He was a loved grandfathr and great grandfather.
His last wishes & my last promise to him was that he'd be cremated and spread on top of the tallest mountain we could find in the place he'd always called home in Montana...."

I'm sorry to hear this but he sounds like a great guy for those that got to experience him more -- and was a whole, engaged Skip until the end. That's a real blessing.

Does someone have an official high-school Skip pic they can post?
Sorry, sometimes I feel embarassingly clueless :/
