Dubby was a great neighbor and friend. He used to play "Midnight Ghost" with me and other kids on the block. Last time I saw him was one afternoon maybe in late summer or early fall 1971 when he and Mike McMahan and Debi Gauerke and I went to the "Ice House" on Westview (I think it was there), had a beer and danced a little. Debi found me later at Sam Houston and told me how Dubby had died. It was a terrible tragedy and he is still missed by everyone to this day.

Dubby went with me to visit the campus of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in the late spring/early summer of 1968. His brother was a professional football player (punter) with the Saints in New Orleans. Lafayette was only about 150 miles away, so he was interested in attending ULL to be closer to his brother. Had I chosen to attend ULL (rather than LSU), Dubby and I would have probably been roommates our freshman year, as my grandparents had a small cottage near the campus where we would have lived for free. Dubby never went to school there, and I lost track of him. I don't know the details of his death, but he was a good guy who everyone enjoyed being around.

Dubby along with Mark Monroe, Ashley Burlson and myself, used to go surfing together, he was a great guy and his death occured while I was in the Military.  I did stop by his home and give my condolences to his parents.
