1950-2004

NANCY KAY STEEG, 53 yrs. old died August 4, 2004. Nancy was born October 18, 1950, in West Hempstead, New York, a blonde curly-haired angel, 5th child born in 4 years to Georgianna Mary Ryan and James Richard Steeg.
She was truly a free spirit who loved nature and was happiest working in her yard and watching things grow in her garden. She moved to Houston with her family in 1961 and after graduating from Spring Woods High School, attended Stephen F. Austin in Nacogdoches before heading to Colorado. She moved back to Texas a few years after the birth of her son Zachary.
Nancy was employed by the City of Austin, Public Works Department, Construction Inspection Division.
Her family sends heart-felt thanks to her co-workers for their support, assistance and love during this difficult time.
Preceded in death by her parents Georgie and Jim Steeg.
Survivors include one son, Zachary James Steeg.
Siblings -- Tex Steeg, Sherry Boni, Jack and Dana Steeg, all of Austin; Barbara Wojhan and Suzy Lyles, of Houston, and Christine and Gary Scrip of Wolcott, Colorado.
Nieces and nephews: Brian Steeg, Kenley Steeg, Christopher Boni, Amanda Boni, Debbie & Coby Kirk, Mark & Debbie Hutchison, Kyndra Steeg, Ashton Steeg, Elisabeth Lyles.
Grand nieces and nephews: Clay Kirk, Kyla Kirk, Morgan Hutchison, Lindsey Hutchison, aunts: Mrs. Betty Sullivan and Miss Dorothy Ryan, both of New York.
A memorial service will be held at Austin Peel and Son Funeral Home, 607 E. Anderson Lane, on Saturday, Aug. 14th at 3:00 pm in the chapel. Monsignor Edward Jordan of St. John Neumann Catholic Church will perform the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Central Texas, 1400 Tillery, Austin, Texas 78721. These can be made "in honor of Nancy Steeg".
The family also wishes to thank Zachary's "Big Brother" Travis Moench for the love he has shown him all these years.
May you rest in peace and be surrounded by angels wingtip to wingtip.

Nancy worked in our company here in Austin for a number of years. We were visiting at our 20th Reunion and she was in-between jobs. I snapped her up and she began a new position on Monday. Many people here in Austin have been touched by her loving care for them.Jacqueline Fox (Seidensticker)
I remember Nancy in Junior High. She used green food coloring in her hair for St. Patrick Day. She didn't realize that it would not wash out!! She was a character! She will be missed by many.Jackie Fox Seidensticker
