Joe Sibley (Coach)

Coach Joe Sibley passed away June 22, 2020.
He attended Nederland High School where he was class President, a member of the National Honor Society, voted Best All-Around Boy, and captain of the football team under Coach Bum Phillips.
He received a full football scholarship to Stephen F. Austin where he played from 1952 to 1956, and was a letterman in 1954 and 1955.  Football was his passion.
He went on to coach with Bum Phillips in Nederland, Texas and Jacksonville, Texas.  He remained extremely close with Bum clear up until Bum's passing.
He coached at Spring Woods from 1964 to 1977.  There he made lifelong friendships with the coaches and may of his players.  He loved getting together with those friends every year when he came to Texas, it meant so much to him.  He was also a science teacher and a P.E. coach during that time at Spring Woods.
