Dean Bingham

1940-2014

OBITUARY:
Philip Dean Bingham was born March 14, 1940, in Fort Worth, son of Joseph Moreland Bingham and Hazel Bell Bingham.

Dean met his childhood sweetheart in first grade, Linda Pope Bingham, and they were married 14 years later. After graduating from Paschal High School in Fort Worth, Dean and Linda attended Abilene Christian College in 1958. After marrying in 1960, they transferred to The University of Texas at Austin where he completed his undergraduate degree.

After taking his first teaching job in Houston, Dean completed his Master’s Degree in Education from Sam Houston State University, and went on to do additional post graduate studies there as well.

Dean was serving as a high school math and science teacher at Spring Branch High School in Houston when he heard the call to use his gifts as an educator and administrator for a greater purpose serving the Kingdom of Heaven.

Over the next two decades, Dean served as a teacher, principal, academic dean, and superintendent at Boles Home for Children, Fort Worth Christian School, and the Christian School in Shreveport, La.

Following his devoted career in Christian Education, Dean joined the National Federation of Independent Business, where he proudly earned recognition for many years as the top producer in the nation.

Following his career with NFIB, he returned to his first love in education and taught fifth and sixth grades math and science and served as a personal aid to a disabled student in Gainesville before his retirement.

Dean loved and was committed to his family. As an only child, he devotedly spent much of the past 10 years caring for two beloved aunts near the end of their lives, and for both his mother, Hazel, and his mother-in-law, Ruth Pope, when they moved to Gainesville in their later years.

Dean served as a deacon in the Lord’s Church at Boles Home, and as an elder in three congregations, College Hill Church of Christ in Forth Worth, Huntington Park Church of Christ in Shreveport, and the Singing Oaks Church of Christ in Denton.

Dean is survived by his wife of 54 years, Linda; his daughter, Julie and husband Gary Titlow of Rockwall; his son, Jeff and wife Sherry Bingham of Oklahoma City, Okla.; daughter Jenny and husband Mike Connally of Midland; and by seven beloved grandchildren and their spouses, Brittany and Nathan Stewart, Baylee Titlow, Hannah and Jason Brunner, Alec Bingham, Rebecca Bingham, Cayden Connally, and Cassidy Connally.

Dean left his earthly cloak to be with his Lord July 6, 2014, after being surrounded by his family at his home in Rockwall.

His service was Monday, July 7, at Mt. Olivet/Greenwood Cemetery in Fort Worth, where he is interred.
