John Garrison was a pro-golfer and was Head Coach at Spring Woods High School.  

He was born January 26, 1915 in Palo Pingo County, Texas.  He passed away May 16, 1972 in Houston, Texas.  He was 57 years old.  Burial is Woodlawn Cemetery, Houston, Texas

(AP Wirephoto) JOHN GARRISON Veteran Grid Coach Dies HOUSTON (AP) — John Garrison, 56, died Tuesday. Garrison, who retired coaching this year after a 30-year career, recently entering the administrative field in the Spring from Branch Independent School District. Survivors include the widow and three children. Funeral scheduled. He was a quarterback Eastland and played in the Texas High School coaches' first All-Star football game in 1936. He played halfback at East Texas State and after his college career he entered the coaching ranks. He coached at White Oak, Electra, Galveston Ball, Spring Branch and Spring Woods high schools in addition to serving as an assistant at Tulsa University. When Spring Woods High School opened in 19C4.

Dedicated To Former Ball High Coach - Schoolboy Golf Tourney Today FRIDAY MORNING, MARCH 16, 1973 - team field will take off Friday in the 19th annual Galveston High School golf tournament at the Municipal Golf Course. This tournament is being dedicated to John Garrison a former Ball High golf coach and assistant football coach. Garrison was the founder of the tournament in 1954. Darrell Tully was the athletic director and head football coach at the time. Garrison left with Tully at the end of the 1956 season and moved to Spring Branch, then later to Spring Woods.
