Hazel Layne was born August 21, 1925 in Franston, Texas.  She passed away on October 1, 2012 in Houston, Texas.  Burial was at Memorial Oaks Cemetery.

Hazel was the daughter of John T. and his wife, Edna Daniel.  She married Porter Leon Layne and they have a son and a daughter.

Hazel was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, Retired School Teachers Association and The SWELLS group.
She was an avid Houston Astros fan and was a season ticket holder for 25 years.  You never experienced an Astros game until you went with her, because everyone knew her, she pulled for The Astros whether they were winning or losing.
She taught English, Grammar and Novels classes at Spring Woods High School, her former students wtill say they learned more than they wanted to in her classroom.  Leon and Hazel had traved to all 50 states, as well as trips abroad. Visiting family and family vacations were top priority.
