A few years ago Lindy Heyen class of '64 and I went over to Taos. It was Labor Day and we met Gary. He was an artist and had a gallery. He introduced us to many other artists. Lindy was an art teacher an especially liked meeting other like souls.
Gary was very nice and invited us to a party at his house. Again another friendly evening.

He talked about his children and Waltrip days. It seems very sad to me that he is gone. He was kind and funny. I have one of his art pieces. I love old trucks and this was the focus in the picture.

He will be missed.

Gary's family and mine went on camping trips together to Colorado when we were young. We were very close.

Not too many years ago I remember Gary's mother showing me photos of Gary's daughter's wedding in Hawaii. I looked carefully at the photos and had to ask her to please point out Gary to me. I couldn't find him in any of the photos. She pointed to this handsome gray-headed man. Oh my gosh!! It never occured to me that he had grown older too! Funny how we always picture people as they were the last time we saw them.
