Shocked to hear John had passed away. I knew him since 4th grade at Cooley Elementary in the Heights. He was probably Ivan Jones's best friend as kids. Good guy as I remember him but lost track many years ago. Anyone know what happened to John that caused his death?
In the neighborhood we called him Tommy. Tommy Lang and I went walking when I came home to Houston for a visit. He had some personal problems but life was changing for him. He loved his kids and grandkids. I visited with his Mother the next time I came home. He was ill for a very short time before we lost him. He still lived around the corner from me and it always made me happy to see him. Sweetie
Sorry to hear that John has passed. We used to go frog gigging in the then woods around White Oak Bayou. I remember him teaching me to sign because of his dads hearing problem.
John and I attended Cooley Elementary, I think he was a half year behind me. The last time I saw John was around '97, he was working at a boat supply shop on Katy Freeway at Gessner. He told me he had been working in the oil patch down in South America.
John died from complications of Multiple Myloma. He had turned his life around and was enjoying life and his family before he passed away. He had a strong interest in computers and was custom building computers to the users needs. Of course, he outfitted his kids and grandkids with the latest computer and software. He dearly loved his children and grandchildren. His favorite conversation was talking about his kids and grandkids.
John Thomas Lang Jr. is survived by his mother, Nona Lang, his children and their spouses: Christine Michelle and Mike Gilbert, John Thomas III and Contessa Lang, four grandchildren and four siblings.
