I grew up with Jan, Sammy, Johnny, and especially mom Margaret and and not so special dad Sam. Lived right across the street on Viking Drive. Met her when I was five, and I'm not sure why, I've thought of her often thru the years. I loved Jan's rich, beautiful auborn hair. At least that's how I remember it. She was a "big boned" girl as I recall. I don't think you need to look up to find heaven. I think those gone are right next to us when we conjure them up. I remember Jan Barker, great to know her, great to be a kid and dream.

Firth grade teacher, Mrs. McCormick, made Jan my valentine. I spent several months running the other way.

Jan was the first girl I ever went steady with. She was a wonderful person and a very beautiful lady. I wish we could have spent more time together. Her brother Sammy was a very good friend and intoduced us.
