Jan was a great friend of mine and even when I went away to graduate school, we always talked and wrote. She died in the spring of 1974 of the kidney disease she'd been dogged with most of her young life. She was always full of life and fun (her laughter was infectious) and I will always miss her, although I have many happy memories of the times we spent together. I still keep in touch with her mom.
