Mr. Rick Smit, 53, of Laguna Park died Wednesday, April 9. He was born February 4, 1950 in Houston, son of Donald Everett and Ruth Dean Jones Smit. He was raised in Houston and had lived in the Lake Whitney area for 12 years. He was owner and operator of the Boat Barn on Highway 22 near Whitney.

his mother, Ruth Dean Smit,
three children;
Scott Smit and wife, Robyn,
Tammie Smit
Lynnsey Smit
wife, Sandra Blanscet Smit
three sisters, Judy Duke of Oklahoma, Molly Johnson of Houston and Terri McCarley of Austin;
three grandchildren; and 10 stepgrandchildren.
Funeral services were held at noon Saturday, April 12, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Whitney. Graveside services were held at 4 p.m. Saturday at Cook-Walden Memorial Hill in Pflugerville.
