Orientation and Operation Policies Guidelines for Administrators

If you have an interest in being one of the administrators for your year of graduation from Westbury high school, please read the "Welcome All" letter linked in the navigation menu. I've summarized some of those points addressed in that correspondence into this piece.

The primary issues regarding site management by administrators, at least until these issues can be surveyed and discussed as interests direct, are ethics and legal responsibly. Regarding the latter, it is mine. Regarding the former, here are Internet standard rules for non profit social media database management (DBM) (I employed them at startup):

  1. As pertains to the issues of  epistemology, philosophy and method of facilitation, we don't let anyone be disparaged or otherwise hurt. That means we intend to and do preclude:
  • Defamation, aspersions, ad homonyms, and etc.
  • Posting of true events that reveal with named identities (absolutely without permission of all parties) sexual (the Democrats' definition) or criminal activities. Please, let's be thoughtful of and protective against inappropriate disclosure of over the line kinds of stuff.
  • Inappropriate responses* to personal stories, including and emphasizing veterans stories.

  1. There will be no exploitation, commercial, avocative or otherwise of the database (soliciting or posturing people into private practices and or  professional services other than through offering of their value from their individual profiles).
  2. There'll be no political, theocratic or other kinds of prosthelyzation activities.
  3. This site does not receive or disburse funds.
  4. The site maintains itself operationally separate from reunion committee decision making functions - that is, the site's Root Administrator does not participate as a reunion committee member or other manager. Assistant site administrators do participate as managers of reunion functions.

  5. We can discuss, add or remove for improvement later.

*In this application, "inappropriate responses" refers to instruction or behavioral injunctions - admonitions that reflect to the story teller how to better live one's or another's life than may have been represented in the example. Class members are invited to tell their life stories, which when including trauma and loss evoke some  vulnerability, which functions contrary to the utilization of traditional defenses employed in other everyday relationships and situations. Because the invitation is extended by this administrator, it has a responsibility to ensure that feedback is proportionately not exploitive of that vulnerability. I will discharge, in as courteous a  manner as possible, inane comments. Of note, when existentialism, caring, sensibility and empathy typically underpin the response provided in writing on this site, the outcome will be the experience of congruence or congruity between the teller of the story and the recipients. If the response were to be behavioral or analytically rational cognitive in its orientation, then congruency and consistency will not prevail, and be instead replaced by the ever presenting and otherwise unnecessary need for conflict resolution management. Hence, in matters involving the relating of trauma and loss, administration will censor respondents' feedback, but with as much tact as can be brought to bear in each situation.

Goals

In constructing the goals for this idea, I boiled them down to providing the culture of our youth a place to discuss with enjoyment and meaning the processes of their lives.

 Tech Skills?

If you don't know database community oriented management, I will always maintain the site in full myself and teach those who would like to learn (if that is you) how to do it. It is not hard. Only takes some time, coordination, empathy for members' interactive processes, and the reading of a few directions, or asking me, or both.

But the development cycle requires some strength, that is, commitment of study for learning and time. Once fully up and running, should be nothing left but fun for someone. Plus, if so inclined, management participants will learn much about how Web 2.0 and the transition into 3.0 functions.

Intent and Administration Fees

I have planned this project with the intent to develop it over the next year and then turn it over to committee and a new root administrator's ownership and management so that it may exist in perpetuity. Fees are nominal and of little to no importance. This was the most advanced preconfigured web software I could find, ha, under $15,000 per year. In fact, as I've told the software's developers, I believe their program is underpriced given the service that it provides and as compared to the market.

Disclaimer

I hope I have not run you (assistant administrators) off with all this. Am sorry, as this is how I think and write on structural matters and web tech things. I run 6 other both private and public web communities in my work and as hobbies pertaining to my avocations.

System Backup and Site Continuation

I've been incapacitatingly ill for the last 14 years. Hence, I have given the code keys to the root administrator's controls to another individual who is a member of our group, least I become again unavailable for productive participation. That person also will have control of the domain names, most important to consistency and congruency as the underscores of Social Media operations.

Please contact me if interested in becoming an administrator, assistant or co administrator of your particular class. And also use this forum if you like to ask questions below or add your comments. If this programs develops as intended, then these policy and guideline issues will require and likely benefit from discussion.
