Jon Asher Jennings
Westbury High School Class of 1965
JON ASHER JENNINGS passed from this life on Wednesday, February 17, 1999 due to complications following heart surgery. Jon was involved in the work of the Church and was a member of the Diaconate, past President of the Christian Men's Fellowship, and an officer in many other church groups at Bethany Christian Church. Jon was a CPA and held an MBA degree. He was the financial officer for the Houston Public Library since 1986, where in addition to his regular duties, he counseled employees with terminal illnesses, such as AIDS and cancer, so they could make best use of their benefits and thus ease their distress. His first love was singing in the choir and organizing amateur entertainment and fundraisers for the church. In 1996, he joined the Houston Tidelanders Barbershop Chorus. He previously shared his love of music with his first life companion, Wm. Bryan Jennings (deceased). He has shared his last wonderful fulfilled life with his beloved Mark. His mother, Anna Lucille Morrison Jennings preceded him in death. He is survived by his life partner, Mark Collier Ferrin; father, Asher W. Jennings; brother, Jim D. Jennings; sisters, Joan Morgan of Bettendorf, Iowa and Jerrie Armstrong of Bakersfield, California; his beloved Aunt Betty L. Morrison; nieces; nephews; and many dear friends. Friends are invited to visitation with the family from 5 P.M. until 9 P.M. on Thursday, February 18, 1999 in the Drawing Room of The Settegast-Kopf Funeral Directors, 3320 Kirby Drive. Funeral Services will be held at 10 A.M. on Friday, February 19, 1999 at Bethany Christian Church, 3223 Westheimer. Private interment will follow.
At Jon's request, in lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Bethany Christian Church Music Fund or your favorite charity. I WILL SING TO THE LORD A NEW SONG.
