In Memory

Marilou Hagen (Holmes) - Class Of 1962

Our classmate Marilou Hagen was very reserved until you got to know her.  Like many of the class of 62 she had come from another school in her senior year.  She did not pursue college upon graduation but went to work and was my first close friend to marry after graduation.

She had actually transferred from the high school my 'not known to me yet" husband attended.  We stayed in touch for a long while and she asked my husband and I to be godparents to her first born daughter.

I still have a hand embroidered quilt she made for me as a gift for my first son.  Sometime in the 1970's she and her family moved to Dallas and we did not have close contact from that point.  I learned of her death from a mutual friend and was shocked and saddened to think she had left us so early in life.

She was a kind, faithful friend and I think of her often.

Dear Jacquie,

Your eulogy to your friend was written and presented beautifully. Thank you for telling us more about her. I'm sorry you both had to transfer in your last year in high school.

Please accept my condolences to all of you who hold her in memory. Some day, I would like to see a picture of the quilt, if proper for you to show.

Sincerely,

Jesse Collins
