I never had one class with Evalyn. She was a year ahead of me and her sister a year or two behind me. We rode the same bus to and from school. She was cute and she had a delightful smile. She made glasses and a ROTC sponsor's uniform look good.
She was in that little but outstanding senior class of 1962 so she was gone before my senior year. I hadn't thought about her except for the rare times I would pull out the old yearbook and see her face. Yearbooks just don't show how lively or subdued a person's character really was back then.
So now she is also gone. I hate this. I just recently learned of Larry (Dillard), Bill (Pistole), and Evalyn. The recent news is abysmal in so many ways. Added to our friends who have passed are others who are fighting difficulties, illnesses, or are on the verge of losing their precious loved ones. I had no idea how much they meant to me until now.
I knew Evalyn. I had nothing less than admiration and respect for her. She was pretty and sweet. I'm greatly saddened to know she is gone. Quite a loss for me and our class.
