Karon, a graduate of Westbury Senior High School class of 1964, was a much-beloved Peterson Middle School teacher in Kerrville, Texas. She had graduated from Sam Houston State University with degrees in Art and English, then pursued her teaching certificate from McMurry University in Abilene. She was a member of Chi Omega while attending SHSU and was an active member of Kerrville's Eta Xi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, a professional educator's organization. She was also a member of the Zeta Chapter in New Mexico. Her life was devoted to teaching, but she also loved gardening, bird-watching and kayaking the Llano River with her family of four daughters and one grandson. Her husband of 38 years, John I. Risher, Jr. is a community relations agent with Pedernales Electric Cooperative. They met while attending Sam Houston State University in Huntsville and were married in 1968. Karon was honored with a Bill in the Texas House of Representatives as Texas House Resolution 81(R) HR 19 declaring Karon Diane Dworak day, reading a description of her life and accomplishments, and officially adjourning in memory of her on the day of her passing. Memorial contributions were also made to Kerrville's Butt-Holdsworth Memorial Library.

Karon is survived by her husband, John I. Risher, Jr.; Sister, Vicki L. Hensley of Galveston; four daughters; and one grandson.
