Jane Camille Mrok

JANE CAMILLE MROK died unexpectedly on Saturday November 1, 2008. She was born in Houston on December 30, 1960 to Leo Joseph and Venita Fitts Mrok, the sixth child in a lively household. A fifth generation Texan, she was a Girl Scout, St. Thomas parishioner, and Westbury High School graduate. Jane was a loving daughter, sister, and friend, with a heart as big as Texas. Her generous spirit and gentle humor will be greatly missed. Former owner of Houston's legendary Brenner's Steak House, Jane took pleasure in creating memorable occasions for patrons. She was a wonderful gourmet cook with a passion for good food and wine. During her career in the hospitality industry, she worked for Westin Hotels, Holiday Inn and Crowne Plaza Hotels, the family's Superior Rentals & Design and historic Lenox Barbecue & Catering in Houston's East End. She was a past member of the Texas Restaurant Association and Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo. Jane is survived by a large extended family, including her mother; sisters Elaine Mrok, Anne Mrok-Smith and children, Meagan and John Alexander, and Susan O'Sullivan and husband Dean of Austin; brothers Leo Mrok, Jr., and Erik Mrok and wife Noni and children, Bianca, Reece, Nichole, and Michelle; many other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved father, a World War II veteran; and grandparents John and Mary Mrok of Holland, Michigan, and Johnnie Reece and Ida Mae Fitts of Linden, Texas. The family thanks the staff and doctors of Spring Branch Medical Center for their compassion and care. Services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday November 5, 2008 in the Memorial Oaks Funeral Home Mausoleum Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to services in the Chapel. Interment will follow in Memorial Oaks Cemetery. Pallbearers are Leo Mrok, Jr. Erik Mrok, Dean O'Sullivan, Harry Anglin, John-Alexander Smith and Reece Mrok. Honorary pallbearers are Frank J. Mrok and Col. Robert J. Parr (Ret). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dominican Sisters of Houston, 6501 Almeda Road, Houston, Texas 77021 or to the charity of one's choice.
