I don't know how many people remember Joe, but he was a great guy. He came from a family that was not of great means. His father was worked in a Foleys warehouse and his mother stayed at home. Joe contributed some of his earnings to the family to make ends meet(now that's character). He was a very intelligent guy and so down to earth. He and I worked very closely to do the Stratford break-in... I was on the inside and Joe and I think John M. were on street patrol communicating with us via walkie-talkie. Those were the good ol' days. I received notice of his death while on my first duty station in the Marine Corps. I really wanted to attend his funeral but was not in long enough to get leave. I can't remember who notified me or how. As I recall he was electrocuted in the Gulf setting up sonar equipment or something of that nature. The facts get blurry after 30 years...but I have never forgot what a great friend Joe was, as well as a trouble maker in Ms. Pope's class(was that Gov. or something like that) and also Ms. Pope's pet.
I really wanted to go to his funeral also but just couldn't bring myself to. His death was the first close friend that passed away. I will always miss Joe. Someday we will see each other again!

Joe remains in my memory one of the funnest, craziest, nicest, and most loyal of friends I ever knew.
