I ran into Paul the first week of dental school in '89. He'd attended A&M with me though we were both unaware as the school was very large. Our junior year of dental school ('92), Paul couldn't take the stress of his studies anymore and took his own life.... This didn't make sense as he was engaged, 18 months away from graduation, and had made it that far already. Our orthodontic faculty had tried to put the fear of god into the class claiming there would be no curve, despite the ~55 class average going into the finals that semester. Paul just couldn't take it anymore.... I miss him to this day.... He was a happy, intelligent, well thought of classmate who fell under absurd academic pressure....

Paul came to us in our Senior year. He fit right in from day one. While some of us may have stayed in our groups, with regard to whom we hung out with, Paul managed to cross those boundaries without ill effect. He was a super nice guy, intelligent, good looking, and a hell of a politician. From what I gathered, his family was on the move alot, and hence why we only got a year or so out of him. I'll never forget that red Toyota that he used to drive, and the bottle of Jack that we went through during a concert once. We had great times with Paul, and in all honesty, we were jealous when his attention was taken by others outside of our group, because the reality was: He was just a great guy and everyone liked hanging out with him. I know I did. I lost touch with him after highschool, and never saw him again. It broke my heart when I heard the bad news. I love you Paul.
