Anitta Lynn Bliss, of San Jose, California, died January 18, 2000 at age 39, of chronic fatigue syndrome. She had earned her bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from MIT.  After receiving her master's from Stanford in 1987, she worked in Apple Computer's portables division until 1995, when illness forced her to leave. Survivors included her fiancé, Justin, her parents and her sister Jean.

Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome is also called myalgic encephalomyelitis. It affects the body’s immune, cognitive and muscle systems. Anitta was a member of the National CFIDS Foundation.
