Diana Wallman (Bertrand)

Diana Marie Wallman Bertrand, 61, of Kingsland, Texas, lost her valiant battle against cancer on August 28, 2020.  She was born to Lt. Col Kenneth Arthur Wallman and Joann (Witcher) Wallman on March 21, 1959 in Roswell, New Mexico.  After high school, Diana enlisted in the United States Air Force.  Following boot camp, Diana was posted to an Air Force tech school in Denver, Colorado where she trained to develop aerial film and equipment. She received her top posting in the 12th TRS at Bergstrom Air Force Base in Austin, as a continuous photo processor with a mobile unit that required her to work on heavy equipment in a team environment – another job she loved.  There she joined the Honor Guard, eventually meeting the love of her life – Steve Bertrand – at a funeral.  Following a 10-year courtship, they married in 1991 in Houston, Texas.  Following her military career, Diana attended a Travel School where she was voted “most likely to destroy the computer” and worked briefly in a Photo Mat before finding her calling at her husband’s family garage – Swann’s Garage.  Being hands on, she eventually moved from the reception to the garage, soldering, fixing brakes and radiators, and towing cars. She is survived by her husband, daughter, five stepchildren two grandchildren and five of her siblings.  She is preceeded in death by her parents and brothers Larry Wallman  and Glen Wallman.
