From Jack's good friend Phil Gammage: I was very saddened to hear of Jack’s passing. Though we had been out of touch for many years, he was and is frequently in my thoughts. Jack was one of the cool Briargrove kids I first met while in junior high at T.H. Rogers. We became close friends my junior year at Lee. I’ve got a lot of good memories about him … working together as Auto Hosts in the Galleria during the Christmas holidays … going to Galveston beach … attending concerts at the Sam Houston Coliseum … and many more. Jack had his share of demons, and as we got older they took more of a hold on him. But I will always remember him as my fun loving, rebellious, and smiling high school friend. Here’s to you Jack Elder. Keep rocking.
