Vivian Scott Steinmann, beloved wife and mother and cherished friend, passed from this life on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012, at Lloyd James Funeral Home with the Rev. David Luckenbach of Christ Episcopal Church of Tyler officiating.

Vivian was born on May 9, 1958, in New York City, and later moved to Houston when she was 6 years old. She attended Robert E. Lee High School in Houston and was a proud alumnus of Texas Christian University. In 2002, Vivian moved to Tyler with her husband and daughter.

Although she had many interests, Vivian loved being active in the Junior League of Houston, the Texas Rose Festival, Women's Symphony League of Tyler, Tyler Junior Garden Club (past president), Christ Episcopal Church of Tyler and numerous organizations.

Vivian was preceded in death by her mother, Susan Lander Bowman; her father, Paul Bertrand Scott Jr.; and grandparents, Ruby Mae and Paul B. Scott Sr. of Tyler and Vivian Holland and Oscar McVian Lander of Victoria.

Vivian is survived by her loving husband, Henry Steinmann; her beloved daughter, Lander Elizabeth Wendland; uncle, Traylor Lander of Dallas; aunts, Elizabeth Lander Getzendaner of Waxahachie and Betty Lander of Houston; stepbrothers, Driscoll Bowman, Rodney Bowman and Judson Bowman and his wife Cynthia, all of Houston; brother-in-law, Weldon Steinmann and his wife Lindy of Missouri; sister-in-law, Katie Thompson and her husband Jack; Billy and Kathi Getzendaner and their children, Billy, Blake and Katie Getzendaner; Liz and John Cunliffe and children Frances and Russell Badgett; and cousins, August Lander, Elizabeth Lander, Vivian Lander, Mac Lander and Chris Lander.

Although growing up in Houston, Vivian had a very strong family connection to her adopted city of Tyler where she is survived by cousins, Winn and Phyllis Kittrell, Taylor Kittrell, Scott and Lucinda Kittrell, Luci and Jason Deere, Paul Kittrell, Stephen Kittrell and Sue Harding Deakins.

Vivian's devotion to family and friends, and her razor sharp sense of humor, were a delightful gift to all and her love of life and fun were contagious. She had a great appreciation for beauty and a remarkable ability to bring it into the lives of others. Vivian could literally bring a smile to anyone's face and was a joy to all who were blessed to call her friend.

Honorary pallbearers are Edwin Kittrell, Scott Kittrell, John Breedlove and Denning Key of Tyler, John Peddie of Houston, John Cunliffe of Waxahachie, Paul Scott Kittrell of Denver, Colo., Russell Badgett of Savannah, Ga., and William Manley of Dallas.
