Ed was with the California Highway Patrol and had a stroke circa 1997-8 (plus or minus 2 years) and died within days after. He served in Ventura for many years and went north, in part, because that was required as part of a movement upward in rank.

I just received your reunion notice and wanted to let you know that Ed died on September 21, 2001 from a stroke.

Thanks Suzanne for correcting my faulty memory. I was at work when I was guessing the "circa" date of Eds passing.

What I remember so vividly is the trips Ed and I used to take with our motorcycles along the back highways out of Oxnard, since neither of our bikes were freeway-worthy, the backroads were better. They still are.

My intentions were honorable to get back to see Ed and Suzanne when they moved north, but good intentions always assumed there would be time later. As I write this, it makes me aware that I need to make sure I see Louis Beltran again before that opportunity passes as well. I mean, anyone who posts a picture of his now restored High School car on Classmates as one of his most cherished possesions, you gotta love that. Ed would have got a kick out of that. We all spent time in Louis' wild ride.
