Bruce Marcum

SIMON B. "BRUCE" MARCUM, 69, of Huntington, W.Va., passed away Monday, April 5, 2010, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Bruce was retired from the City of Huntington and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Bruce was born on November 30, 1940, in Williamson, W.Va., the son of the late John S. and Lorena Vera Parsley Marcum. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Evelyn Claire Lawrence and two brothers, O. David and William J. Marcum. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Cynthia R. Marcum; three sons, JD Marcum of Cincinnati, Ohio, Shawn H. Marcum and Amie Maynard of Huntington and Todd A. Marcum of Burlington, Ky.; two grandsons, Nathan and Nicholas; one brother and sister-in-law, Glenn and Joyce Marcum of Huntington; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Catherine Meade of Ashland, Ky., Virginia and Leonard Daloia of Columbus, Ohio, Lucille and Clifton Spandau-Ray of Wake Forest, N.C., and Barbara and Lawrence Pauley of Huntington, W.Va., and Rita and John Hereford of Texas. Bruce was a member of American Legion Post 93, DAV Post #2. He was a River Cities Football official, a longtime member of Spring Valley Country Club, attended Westmoreland United Methodist Church, was a Kentucky Colonel and Tennessee Squire. Bruce officiated high school football for 43 years and high school basketball for 28 years. Bruce also volunteered in various youth leagues and was a Marshall Thundering Herd supporter.
